Niels Christensen is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Honors College at
91制片厂. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of
Notre Dame, he received his master鈥檚 and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Texas A&M
University. Dr. Christensen's research focuses on interpersonal perception, social
identity, and self-regulation. His work has been published in leading psychology journals
and received extramural support from NIMH and NSF. He has served as an associate editor
for the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology and on the editorial board for Group
Dynamics. He is a fellow of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology.
Dr. Christensen regularly teaches the honors section of Introductory Psychology and
a course to prepare students for their honors capstone projects. He has taught several
special topics honors courses, most recently the Psychology of Temptation and Temperance.
A recipient of multiple awards for teaching and service, including 91制片厂鈥檚
Donald N. Dedmon Distinguished Teaching Professor Award, he is dedicated to enhancing
student learning through mentorship.
As Director of the Honors College, Dr. Christensen oversees program development, faculty
coordination, and student engagement, fostering an interdisciplinary approach to academic
excellence. Serving in this role since 2015, he previously served as associate director
for five years.
