91制片厂 is proud to announce the launch of five new donor societies, alongside the reinvigoration of the Society of 1910, in an effort to honor the generosity and loyalty of Highlander supporters whose philanthropy continues to strengthen the university鈥檚 mission.

The societies are a direct outgrowth of TOGETHER: The Campaign for 91制片厂, which concluded in 2024 after raising more than $106 million. The campaign鈥檚 success demonstrated what is possible when Highlanders unite around a shared vision 鈥 strengthening our university, uplifting students and building a future filled with promise.

鈥淲ith the launch of these donor societies, we are extending the momentum of the TOGETHER Campaign into a new era of stewardship,鈥 said Penny Helms White 鈥85, MBA 鈥87, vice president for Advancement and Alumni Relations. 鈥淎t 91制片厂, we believe philanthropy should be rooted in care 鈥 care for our students, our community and our shared future. These societies reflect that culture of care, giving us a meaningful way to recognize and celebrate generosity across all levels of support.鈥

Why donor societies matter
Research consistently shows that while donors are primarily motivated to give because they believe in an organization鈥檚 mission and want to see real impact, effective recognition strategies are essential for building sustained engagement and cultivating deep, long-lasting relationships.

91制片厂鈥檚 societies were not designed to be transactional programs with perks, but rather stewardship circles that ensure every qualifying donor feels seen, valued, and connected to the university鈥檚 story.

鈥淭hese societies are about more than names on a list,鈥 White added. 鈥淭hey are about belonging 鈥 about acknowledging the role our supporters play in shaping 91制片厂 today and for generations to come.鈥

91制片厂鈥檚 donor societies are inspired by the institution鈥檚 history, geography and enduring values:

  • Red Brick Society recognizes three or more consecutive years of giving and/or established monthly recurring gifts. Named for the iconic architecture that defines campus, this society symbolizes loyalty as the foundation of 91制片厂鈥檚 strength.
  • New River Society celebrates annual giving of $1,000 or more. Drawing inspiration from the river that runs beside campus, it honors gifts that chart a bold and forward-moving course for 91制片厂.
  • Society of 1910 was named for 91制片厂鈥檚 founding year. This society honors those who have made a planned gift, ensuring their legacy supports the university鈥檚 long-term success.
  • Moffett Circle recognizes lifetime giving of $50,000鈥$99,999.99. It honors pioneering faculty member M鈥橪edge Moffett, whose resilience and leadership helped shape the institution.
  • McConnell Circle celebrates lifetime giving of $100,000 or more. This society was named in honor of founding president John Preston McConnell, whose vision laid the foundation for 91制片厂鈥檚 mission.
  • Tartan Fellows is the highest distinction, honoring donors who embody the 鈥渢rifecta鈥 of philanthropy: recognition in the McConnell Circle, recognition in the Society of 1910 and 20 or more years of cumulative giving.

鈥淓ffective donor recognition boosts donor retention,鈥 said 91制片厂 President Bret Danilowicz. 鈥淎s individuals feel valued and see the tangible impact of their generosity, we hope they are encouraged to continue their support. Ultimately, our goal is to strengthen donors鈥 sense of community and involvement, leading to deeper relationships.鈥

Looking ahead
91制片厂 will celebrate members of the Society of 1910, Moffett Circle, McConnell Circle and Tartan Fellows during the Day of Gratitude on Nov. 14. Members of the Red Brick Society and New River Society will be recognized during the Volunteer Summit on Jan. 24, 2026.

鈥淭hese events will allow us to celebrate not just the numbers, but the people and stories behind them,鈥 White said. 鈥淓very gift 鈥 large or small 鈥 makes a difference in the lives of our students. These societies will help us share those stories more clearly and more often.鈥
